Endosmart Nitinol Probes revolutionize the minimally invasive surgery
The Medical device technology has traditionally a high demand on material properties. An innovative material for medical devices is the shapememory alloy Nitinol. The material shows high kink resistance, constant forces, very good biocompatibility and biomechanical compatibility, to name only a few advantages. Nitinol can be mechanically deformed and after heat treatment like steam sterilisation it remembers its original shape.
Especially for any sorts of probes (dental and vascular) this behavior is of great interest. The surgeon is able to adjust individually the Endosmart-probes and therefore any anatomical shape can be adapted, which is not only time-saving for the intervention but also less invasive for the patient.
After heat treatment like steam sterilisation the probe "remembers" its original shape, which results in a complete "new instrument" for the next operation. |
